Originally from United Bethel Church in Plain City, OH, Gwendolyn played flute in the Mechanicsburg High School band as well as with some selections on the Rosedale Chorale. Gwendolyn graduated from Cedarville University with a BA in piano performance and BME in music education where she played flute in the symphonic band, woodwind choir, and pep band. Taking classes in wind/percussion methods and strings, she was licensed to teach instrumental music to grades preK-12. She received an MS degree from Longwood University and an EdD degree from the University of Virginia in Administration and Supervision. Gwendolyn served in the Virginia public school system for 11 years: five as a music teacher grades preK-8 and six years as an assistant principal, grades ranging from 5-12. Ten years ago, Gwendolyn returned to music, composing songs out of personal pain and brokenness in her life under the pseudonym Tirzah Joy. She has enjoyed setting chapters of Scripture to music and sharing her CDs and testimony to encourage others. She enjoys arranging music, directing children’s choirs, campfires, jigsaw puzzles, and encouraging others to surrender their lives fully to our loving Lord. It is impossible to trust Him too much! Click here for more on Gwendolyn’s music.
